A Ticket, A Wedding, and a Realization
Planning a recent trip to Germany for my niece’s wedding made me realize something important:
I couldn’t just plan around all the transportation I needed to take. I had to plan around my energy and the time I’d be traveling. That shift changed the way I packed, scheduled, and even how I thought about the trip.
And it worked — I got to be fully present for the moments that mattered.
That’s why I created this page — to share the lessons, shortcuts, and sanity-savers that can make travel easier for anyone who wants to go, but needs to go wisely.
From Story to Resources
Travel isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some days it’s a quick hop on a plane, other times it’s a cross-country train ride with no Wi-Fi, and occasionally it’s a cruise where the buffet becomes a daily adventure.
That’s why I’ve organized resources into categories below — each one a launch pad for guides, articles, and my own lessons learned. Think of this as a tiny travel library that will grow over time.
🌍 Travel Resources Hub
✈️ Air Travel
Airport hacks, packing strategies, and the reality of what TSA really cares about.
🚂 Train Travel
Train travel is less about speed and more about scenery. Wi-Fi is hit-or-miss, movies aren’t a thing, but you’ll meet fascinating people. One fellow passenger I met takes a cross-country Amtrak trip every year — once to the Iditarod, another time just to wander New Mexico.
🚗 Ground Transportation
From Uber Reserve to rental cars and Amtrak connectors — the nuts and bolts of getting around once you’re on the ground.

🛳️ Cruises
Packing differently for land vs. sea, what “all-inclusive” really means, and tips for enjoying life aboard a floating city.
🧭 Other Adventures
Ferries, canal boats, scenic drives, and oddball transport that usually turns into the best stories.
